Post Meridiem Eye Openers-October 24, 2007 CE

1) Politics is as usual, with McCain dropping anywhere from 6 to 9 points behind Obama in national numbers and numerous Republicans endorsing the democratic candidate. We tend to forget that there are other races being run in this country, and Republicans aren't faring very well. but I'll tell you what, we have quite the fisticuffs here in the senatorial race in Louisiana. not so mudslinging but more like radioactive tar-slinging. In this piece regarding political marriages, I love the opening line, where Rep Tim Mahoney asks a reported to clarify if they are asking for a time frame to his numerous extramarital affairs. Lovely. Faith and Values working once again.

2) Beer is great, as are beer conferences and also beer which uses religion to sell more beer. Did I mention beer is great? Well, if I haven't beer is great.

3) In sports, The Tampa bay Rays, who I have thrown my unwavering support behind for 7 games, evened their world series against the Philadelphia Phillies with a score of 4-2. I missed the game, but I'm sure it was a humdinger of pitches, batted balls, and fielding. Netflix it.
Oh, and some old guy retired from nowheresville. woot.

4) In more retirement news, one of the smartest people ever has retired from his post as Lusacian Professor of Mathematics. Stephen Hawking decided to be a pussy and follow university rules to retire at 67. What a dick.

5) Will Ferrell returned to SNL on Thursday night to reprise his famous W. impression. I'm sure that's available on hulu, but I haven't been today. That's me prodding you to go to hulu. I can't do everything for you people.

Well, that's about it. Oh ok, I was kidding. Of course I have to do everything for you people. here you go:
