Russell has said that “true humor is a baby raping a clown.”
I would like to say that I couldn’t disagree with you more, sir. Humor is not a baby raping a clown. Humor is not the violent and humiliating sexual degradation of an entire sub-culture of performers and merry-makers.

The face of evil
Humor is jokes that are told and people laugh at them. I hear no laughter echoing through the halls after a classic “baby raping a clown” barb. I hear no laughter because all I can hear are a humiliated and violated clown’s wails of infinite sadness bouncing off the silence.
Some people might say that babies are too cute to rape anything. Some people would say anything to defend a baby and it makes me cringe. I guess it is okay in our society to ignore one set of crimes because the perpetrator was “too cute,” but I am not going to allow it.
Another hapless victim suffers
I don’t like these “jokes” because they set a terrible precedent regarding the way clowns are viewed in society. I find it horrific that someone could just prattle on about the vicious and intentional rape of a clown by a toddler without someone standing up and saying something.
Look, I love Russell as much as most people love their bread maker or washing machine. Sure as long as they do their job and I get fresh, delicious bread or mountain rain scented undergarments there are no problems, but once that warranty expires it’s time for a new set of appliances.
The time is nigh for a new set of appliances. I understand that the Internet gives us a lot of freedoms and with those freedoms we can say just about anything we want. Where do we draw the line?
I believe the line has been drawn. It has been drawn clearly and probably in the sand somewhere so that people can see it. If we want to have this debate on the streets, I have sidewalk chalk to draw the line so that everyone will still be able to see it. Either way, the line that has been crossed is the line between humor and crass, intentional degradation of an entire set of human beings; i.e. clowns.
To sit there and tell people that a clown getting raped is humor is appalling to me. Perhaps what Mr. Crews needs to realize is that there are clowns out there with feelings and those feelings have probably been hurt.
How many of us have been driving around where we live and seen a broken down, homeless clown crying into a Steel Reserve 40oz can? How many of us can say that we have not felt sympathy for that clown? Clowns are the one group of people who always cheer us up no matter why we are blue.
Is it too much to ask that we not sympathize with them a little bit when they become victims themselves?
I don’t want to get preachy, but I want to make a point here. Clowns need to be treated and seen as victims in cases where they are raped by babies, not as punch lines. I mean if it were funny to be talking about clown rape don’t you think clowns would have tapped that well a long time ago. There whole life is based on making people laugh and if baby rape jokes aren’t in their repertoire than I do not want them in mine.
Let’s just move away from the petty bickering and move forward into a world where a baby raping a clown isn’t considered funny, but considered a cause for action.
We, as a people, need to take action against babies who are stealing the innocence of our nation’s clowns and those that find this funny. Baby rape jokes are a relic of a bygone era in comedy and it is about time that someone said something about it.
I look forward to the day when I can tell my kids that their favorite clown isn’t crying because he was just angrily sodomized in the most brutal fashion by an 11-month-old. I want to be able to say that the clown is crying because he just got done making a bunch of children laugh their tears away and he is extremely happy. I would also like to add that he is happy because he no longer suffers under the yolk of social ridicule and scorn, or the butt of crass jokes, due to an incident involving a 22-month-old, sheer force of will and a steel drain pipe.
Together we can make a difference. Together we can change the world.
